In 1942, the US government asked General Motors to build a gun so cheap it was practically disposable. it had No serial numbers, No markings, A four inch unrifled barrel, 23 stamped parts, and a price tag of two dollars and ten cents. They made a million of them in eleven weeks inside a lightbulb factory in Indiana. Then they shipped them to occupied France, and almost nobody used them.
